Meet the Maharashtra Desha Adventure team at the designated railway station and begin your exciting Northeast backpacking adventure.

For our Saturday departures, we generally travel by 15945 LTT–Dibrugarh Express. For selected special Friday departures, train reservations are usually made on 15647 LTT–Guwahati Express, subject to availability.

Participants joining from Pune can conveniently board the train from Kalyan or Nashik Road stations. Guests may also choose to book their own train tickets and join the group directly at Guwahati after informing our team in advance.

Welcome to the "Abode of Clouds"! Upon arrival at Guwahati Railway Station/Airport, our team will receive you and begin the scenic drive to Shillong, the charming capital of Meghalaya.

En route, visit the beautiful Umiam Lake, one of the most picturesque lakes in Northeast India. After reaching Shillong, check in to your hotel and relax.

In the evening, visit the vibrant Police Bazar (Shillong Mall Road), the heart of Shillong. Explore the local markets, cafés, street food, and shopping at your own pace. As commercial vehicles are not permitted inside the market area, guests can explore the locality by your own.

Double Decker Living Root Bridge Trek

After an early breakfast, gear up for one of the most unforgettable adventures in Meghalaya. Today is dedicated to exploring the world-famous Double Decker Living Root Bridge, a natural marvel created by the Khasi tribes over centuries.

The trek involves descending around 3,000+ steps through dense forests, crossing hanging bridges, and walking alongside crystal-clear streams. The complete trek (up & down) takes approximately 5–6 hours, depending on the group's pace and photo stops. While the trek is moderately challenging, the breathtaking scenery makes every step worthwhile.

Cancellation Policy

Organizer Cancellation

In the event that Maharashtra Desha Adventure cancels the trip due to circumstances beyond our control, including but not limited to:

  1. Lockdowns
  2. Natural calamities (snowstorms, thunderstorms, floods, landslides, earthquakes, severe weather conditions)
  3. Political unrest
  4. Terrorist activities
  5. Curfews
  6. Riots
  7. Government orders or restrictions

A refund will be processed within 30 days from the date of cancellation.

Date Change Request

  • If a participant wishes to change their trip date, Maharashtra Desha Adventure reserves the right to approve or reject the request based on availability.
  • Date change requests must be submitted at least 30 days prior to the original departure date.

Booking Amount 

  • The booking amount is strictly non-refundable under any circumstances.

Refund Processing

  • Eligible refunds will be processed within 7 to 14 working days from the date of cancellation approval.
  • Refunds will be calculated based on the total trip cost, irrespective of whether the payment was made partially or in full.

Client Cancellation Policy

The cancellation policy below is applicable only to guests who have paid the full trip amount. In all cases, the non-refundable booking amount will be deducted first, and the refund percentage will be calculated on the remaining amount.

  1. If only the booking amount has been paid and the booking is cancelled, no refund will be provided.

  • No refund will be applicable on the non-refundable booking amount.
  • Any cancellation charges incurred from third-party vendors such as railways, airlines, hotels, transport operators, activity providers, or government fees will be deducted from the refund amount wherever applicable.
  • No refund shall be provided for unused services, missed activities, late arrivals, early departures, or voluntary withdrawal from the trip after commencement.
  • Maharashtra Desha Adventure reserves the right to amend this policy without prior notice if required by operational or regulatory circumstances. 
Terms and conditions
  • The company shall not be held liable for any additional charges incurred due to events such as accidents, vehicle breakdowns, riots, or train delays.
  • Additional fees may apply if the government issues new guidelines regarding hotel stays or transportation.
  • The schedule may be subject to change by the manager for the convenience of participants.
  • During the trip, the manager reserves the right to dismiss any individual who disrupts the harmony of the group. The company disclaims responsibility for any sightseeing cancellations resulting from natural disasters or man-made incidents.
  • Maharashtra Desha will not be accountable for any false or inaccurate information provided to government authorities.
  • Any discrepancies during the tour are the sole responsibility of the customer(s).
  • Customers must provide accurate and complete travel information, and any resulting consequences or additional charges will be borne by the customer.
  • Customers are required to submit photo ID proof for all travelers at the time of booking.
  • Final seating arrangements will be determined by the leader for the convenience of all participants.
  • Public Smoking and drinking are strictly prohibited. 

Accommodation & Sharing Policy : 

  1. Shared accommodation is allocated on a gender-wise basis and is subject to final batch composition and room availability.

  2. The sharing category selected during booking represents a preferred accommodation arrangement and is not an absolute guarantee, unless covered under the provisions mentioned below.

  3. Maharashtra Desha will make every reasonable effort to honour the selected sharing preference and provide the most suitable accommodation arrangement for all travellers.

  4. Travellers booking as a group will be accommodated together to the maximum extent possible. However, mixed-gender groups may be divided into separate gender-wise rooms in accordance with the accommodation policy.

  5. Travellers booking Double Sharing (2 persons) will be provided accommodation together as per their booking, irrespective of whether the occupants are male-male, female-female, or male-female. No Exclusive Group Accommodation charges shall apply in such cases.

  6. Groups wishing to guarantee accommodation exclusively within their own group may opt for the "Exclusive Group Accommodation" facility by paying an additional charge of ₹500 per group.

  7. Exclusive Group Accommodation is applicable only when the total number of travellers exactly matches the selected sharing category. For example:
    • 3 travellers booking Triple Sharing
    • 4 travellers booking Quad Sharing
    • 2 travellers booking Double Sharing (No additional charge applicable)

  8. Solo travellers and groups whose total number of participants does not exactly match the selected sharing category (including but not limited to 1, 2, 5, 6, 7 or other combinations in Triple/Quad sharing) agree to accept the final accommodation arrangement determined by Maharashtra Desha.

  9. In such cases, accommodation may be revised to double, triple, quad, or any other suitable sharing configuration based on final batch composition, gender-wise allocation, and operational requirements.

  10. If the revised accommodation results in an increase in package cost, the applicable difference in sharing charges shall be payable by the traveller as per the package rates. Maharashtra Desha will always try its best to minimise such adjustments.

  11. Final room allocation will be completed and communicated approximately 48–72 hours prior to departure. Once finalised, accommodation changes may not be possible.

  12. No objections, refunds, discounts, or compensation shall be applicable solely due to accommodation adjustments made in accordance with this policy.

  13. By confirming the booking, travellers acknowledge that they have read, understood, and accepted this Accommodation & Sharing Policy in full.

ABOUT TRAIN TICKETS

Important Travel Information - Train Ticket Booking with Maharashtra Desha 

1. Ticket Booking Process:

  • Certified Agents: Maharashtra Desha Adventure uses IRCTC-certified agents to book train tickets.
  • AI-Based Tools: We employ AI-based tools like ConfirmTicket to predict the probability of your ticket being confirmed.
  • Booking Strategy: Tickets are booked based on maximum confirmation probability, depending on the remaining days until departure.

2. Confirmation Disclaimer:

  • No Guarantee: The tool does not guarantee 100% confirmation for waitlisted and RAC (Reservation Against Cancellation) tickets.
  • Limited Control: Maharashtra Desha Adventure does not control ticket confirmations; it is managed by IRCTC, a government body.
  • RAC Tickets: There is a possibility of receiving a RAC (half-seat) ticket instead of a confirmed seat. Maharashtra Desha Adventure is not responsible for the lack of confirmed tickets.

3. Train Cancellations and Route Changes:

  • Responsibility: If a train is cancelled or the route changes, Maharashtra Desha Adventure will not be held responsible.
  • Alternate Solutions: Alternative solutions will be provided at an additional cost.

4. Booking Recommendations:

  • Advance Booking: To increase the likelihood of getting a confirmed seat, book your trip at least 60 days in advance.
  • Seasonal Availability: Seat availability varies by season. Peak festive and tourist seasons may reduce the chances of getting confirmed seats due to limited train options.

5. Alternate Train Options:

  • Agent Assistance: Our agents may contact you with alternate train options that have higher confirmation probabilities. These alternatives may involve a fare difference, which you will need to cover if you choose to upgrade.

  • Predictability Tool Limitations: Occasionally, our predictability tool may fail, resulting in an RAC seat upon chart preparation. Maharashtra Desha Adventure is not responsible for providing full seats or issuing refunds in such cases.

6. Premium Trains:

  • Higher Fares: Premium trains like Rajdhani and Duronto have fares approximately 50% higher than regular trains.
  • Higher Confirmation Rates: These trains offer the highest probability of ticket confirmation and are recommended for a better travel experience.

7. Mid-Trip Changes:

  • Flight Options: If you decide to switch to flight travel during your trip, notify us at least 36 hours in advance for a hassle-free cancellation of train tickets.
  • Cancellation Policy: Last-minute cancellations are not always possible due to fixed agent schedules and other factors.
