The Do Dham Yatra – Kedarnath & Badrinath with Tungnath is a sacred pilgrimage journey through the majestic Garhwal Himalayas of Uttarakhand, offering a perfect blend of spirituality, devotion, and natural beauty. This holy yatra covers two of the most revered shrines in Hinduism—Kedarnath Jyotirlinga and Badrinath Dham—along with a visit to Tungnath, the highest Shiva temple in the world. Surrounded by snow-clad peaks, alpine meadows, and pristine rivers, this journey is considered a path to spiritual awakening and inner peace.
Kedarnath Dham, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva, is located at an altitude of 3,583 meters near the Mandakini River. Reaching Kedarnath involves a scenic trek from Gaurikund, passing through breathtaking Himalayan landscapes. Devotees believe that visiting Kedarnath washes away sins and grants liberation (moksha). The temple’s ancient stone architecture and powerful spiritual aura make it one of the most significant pilgrimage sites in India.
Badrinath Dham, dedicated to Lord Vishnu, is situated on the banks of the Alaknanda River between the Nar and Narayan mountain ranges. As one of the Char Dhams of India, Badrinath holds immense religious importance. Pilgrims take a holy dip in the Tapt Kund before darshan at the temple. The serene surroundings, colorful temple façade, and deep-rooted mythology make Badrinath a must-visit destination for spiritual seekers.
Tungnath Temple, part of the Panch Kedar, is the highest Shiva temple in the world at an altitude of 3,680 meters. The trek to Tungnath is relatively short yet incredibly scenic, offering panoramic views of the Himalayan peaks. According to legend, Tungnath is where Lord Shiva’s arms appeared after the Mahabharata war. A visit here adds both spiritual depth and adventure to the Do Dham Yatra, making the journey truly unique.
Overall, the Do Dham Yatra with Tungnath is ideal for pilgrims and nature lovers alike, combining devotion, mythology, and Himalayan exploration. Best undertaken between April and November, this sacred journey promises unforgettable experiences, divine blessings, and moments of profound tranquility amidst the mountains.
